3 years ago Britain's work to support Ukraine has had a big influence on reforms now underway to speed up how military users get their kit. The Trophy system is designed to protect combat vehicles against rockets and missiles by pinpointing the origin of hostile fire and then responding. Leonardo UK, Leonardo Italy, Italy’s ELT Group and Japan’s Mitsubishi Electric envision divvying up the fighter's sensor-related work share in 2025. The joint mission flew Aug. 29 on a United Launch Alliance Atlas V rocket from Cape Canaveral Space Force Base in Florida. Figures in the report show Britain having the smallest number of jets among the four major European military powers. Three are fitted for maritime surveillance, anti-submarine and anti-surface missions, and one is designed for search and rescue operations. “The longer you take to get started, obviously, that has back-end consequences,” Air Force acquisition chief Andrew Hunter told Defense News.
