Two Carriers Remember First Lady Barbara Bush
With the passing of former First Lady Barbara Bush on April 17, 2018, two ships are feeling her loss and will fly their flags at half mast until she is laid to rest. She was the ship's sponsor of the aircraft carrier George Washington and was also involved with the carrier George H.W. Bush, which is named for her husband, former President George H. W. Bush.

Truman Strike Group Deploys
The carrier Harry S. Truman and her strike group left Norfolk April 11, just a year and nine months after returning from a record-setting deployment fighting ISIS. And she'll most likely be in the fight again in the next few months as her deployment is part of regularly scheduled cruise that's slated to take the carrier and six surface ships, and eight aviation squadrons manned by a total of 6,500 sailors to the 5th and 6th Fleet operating areas.
