A pair of futuristic looking eyeglasses stand out from the bulky wearable optic devices seen at I/ITSEC this week.

This is the first look at the smartglasses called NEO, short for Natural Eye Optics, from IMMY Inc., based in Michigan.

The smartglasses are making their debut at the show, said Arinder Mahal, the chief business officer, who is looking to talk to military reps about the product designed for training, work or recreational gaming.

Features of NEO smartglasses include:

■ 8 megapixel camera.

■ 9 DoF [degrees of freedom] tracker.

■ 60-degree field of view with 100 percent overlap.

■ 3D capability

The smartglasses are also lightweight, provide high resolution and offer an unencumbered peripheral vision

The glasses are designed for ergonomic comfort while delivering augmented reality and virtual reality imaging, without eye strain or headaches even after wearing them for extended periods, according to information from the company.

"For any smartglasses to offer a comfortable viewing experience they must deliver the images to the relaxed eye," the company's website states. "This is especially true for a truly immersive, connected and emotional 2D/3D experience.

The intent is to improve productivity and speed up learning for the wearer, so they can train smarter.
