For some time I have been trying to make the point that the United States' military technological superiority is being challenged in ways we have not seen for decades.

With its illegal annexation of Crimea and continuing aggression against Ukraine, Russia has ripped up the international rulebook and threatened the very foundations of the post-Cold War security order. At the same time, the rise of the Islamic State group has fueled extremism and sectarianism in the Middle East and North Africa, and threatens to export terrorism to our own nations.
