The Army is making progress and hopes the audit results this year will help achieve a clean audit of its general fund by FY27 — required by law.
The service hopes a program through its comptroller’s office will help it reach a clean audit, an unmet milestone since Pentagon audits began in 2018.
“Deterrence doesn’t work when we handcuff the Department of Defense’s hands," said one industry representative.
