WASHINGTON — Longtime defense industry executive Andy Hove will become president and CEO of AM General, succeeding Charlie Hall, who is retiring, the company announced Tuesday.
Hove has served as president and CEO of HDT Global since February 2014. He also has worked for Oshkosh Defense, BAE Systems and United Defense, and spent 11 years as an officer in the US Army.
As president of Oshkosh, Hove helped secure contracts for the FMTV and M-ATV platforms. He also oversaw the Bradley combat systems during his tenure at BAE.
"I am excited to join AM General as it continues to lead our industry with its agile and iconic products and its unparalleled workforce," Hove said in a prepared statement. "In particular, the HMMWV has so much to offer our domestic and international military customers. I look forward to leading these critical modernization programs, growing our unique commercial assembly business, and continuing Charlie Hall's commitment to quality, reliability, and innovation."
Hall said it had been a privilege to lead AM General, and praised Hove's choice to replace him.
"I have known and respected Andy for years. With his deep experience in the vehicle manufacturing industry both in the United States and internationally, I cannot think of a better executive to take the helm at AM General during this exciting time of continued growth."
Ronald O. Perelman, chairman and CEO of MacAndrews & Forbes Inc.orporated, AM General’s parent company, thanked Hall for his leadership and wished him the best in his retirement.
"We are so pleased to welcome Andy to AM General and know that his deep experience in vehicle manufacturing and international business will serve our company well for many years to come," Perelman said.
