Australia’s Defence Capability Acquisition and Sustainment Group issued a request for information for at least 16 special operations support helicopters.
A total of 211 vehicles will be acquired under the Australian Defence Force’s Project Land 400 Phase 2, valued at an estimated AU$5 billion (U.S. $3.3 billion). The first vehicle will be delivered in 2020.
The exercise was held with the full support of the South Australian state government and utilized two recently vacated hospital buildings, creating a realistic challenge during several different scenarios.
The deals are reported to be worth several billion Australian dollars and have been announced as part of the country’s plans to establish a continuous naval shipbuilding capability.
