Jen Judson is the land warfare reporter for Defense News. She has covered defense in the Washington area for over six years. She was previously a reporter at Politico Pro Defense and InsideDefense.com.
At InsideDefense.com, Judson specialized in Army aviation and missile defense. Judson broke the news on the Army’s controversial plan to retire its Kiowa Warrior helicopters and instead use Apache helicopters that would be taken from the National Guard. She was awarded the National Press Club’s 2014 Newsletter Journalism Award for her coverage.
Judson began her reporting career in Boston, Mass., as a State House correspondent for the MetroWest Daily News covering the special election following the death of Sen. Ted Kennedy. She also covered city government for the Daily News Tribune in Waltham, Mass. and was a jack-of-all-trades reporter at the Norwood Transcript and Bulletin.
Judson is a Denver, Colo., native. She holds a master of science degree in print Journalism from Boston University and a bachelor of arts degree in history from Kenyon College in Gambier, Ohio.
