Saab Awarded US Army Training Contracts

Saab has been awarded US Army orders for training and simulation systems.

Under work ordered by the Army's Program Executive Office of Simulation, Training and Instrumentation (PEO STRI), Saab will provide OSAG 2.0 interoperability upgrades for the 7th Army Training Command's Deployable Instrumentation System, Europe (DISE) and Combat Vehicle Tactical Engagement Simulation System (CVTESS), according to a Saab news release.

The upgrades will cover DISE infantry systems as well as CVTESS capability for the M-1 Abrams, Bradley infantry fighting vehicles and opposing force (OPFOR) vehicles.

OSAG 2.0 is a Saab-developed software code that simulates vehicle and anti-tank ammunition ballistic performance. The upgrades "will enable soldiers to quickly configure training system lasers to operate using either MILES Communication Code (MCC), primarily used in U.S. training environments or the OSAG 2.0 standard, used by most nations in Europe, for training engagements in any theater and together with multinational units," Saab said.

"This capability provides the U.S. 7th ATC with the ability to train seamlessly with the European partners, using equipment that can be configured for MILES or OSAG 2.0," said Cyndi Krisan, general manager of Saab Defense and Security USA's training and simulation division.
