Attacks on critical infrastructure — food and water delivery, health care services, defense contracting and more — could hamper U.S. military response.
The launch is a first step toward modernizing the Space Force’s more than 60-year-old weather constellation, the Defense Meteorological Satellite Program.
“Enhancing the security of government, private sector and critical infrastructure systems grows ever more imperative,” said Air Force Gen. Timothy Haugh.
"We are in demand, more in demand than we’ve ever been, and that will continue to increase," Vice Adm. Kelly Aeschbach said at the Sea-Air-Space confab.
