Maj. Gen. John L. “Jack” Hudson
Maj. Gen. John L “Jack” Hudson is program executive officer and program director, Joint Strike Fighter Program, Office of the Assistant Secretary of the Navy for Research, Development and Acquisition, Arlington, Va. This joint program will develop and produce the next generation strike warfare weapon system for the U.S. Navy, Marine Corps and Air Force, the Royal Navy and Royal Air Force, and for other countries under partnership and foreign military sales plans.
He was commissioned in 1973 after being honored as a distinguished graduate of the U.S. Air Force Academy. He has a bachelor’s degree in astronautical engineering, and master’s degrees in aeronautics and astronautics from Purdue University, Lafayette, Ind. (1974), in national security and strategic studies, Naval War College (1991), and management, from Salve Regina University (1993).
He earned his pilot’s wings in 1975 and flew assignments through 1986, including time as an instructor pilot in T-38s, an instructor pilot and test pilot for the A-10, and instructor test pilot in the A-7 and A-10. Overall, he is a command pilot with more than 3,504 flight hours in 45 types of aircraft.
Notable staff assignments include: executive officer to the Air Force vice chief of staff; deputy for aeronautical systems, strategic and tactical systems in the Office of the Undersecretary of Defense for Acquisition and Technology; and senior military assistant to the undersecretary. He moved to his current position from an assignment as deputy director, Joint Strike Fighter Program, Office of the Assistant Secretary of the Air Force for Acquisition.
