The US Navy launched its third satellite in the Mobile User Objective System on Tuesday. The satellite was launched at 8:04 p.m. by a United Launch Alliance Atlas V rocket at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, Florida.

The system is designed to "significantly improve ground communications to US forces on the move and around the globe," according to the ULA, which is a joint venture of Lockheed Martin and Boeing.
