GOA, India — Saab of Sweden has joined tied up with India's domestic Tata Power SED to manufacture, the Land Electronic Defence System (LEDS) for the first time in India,.

"Up until now, LEDS has been manufactured by Saab's South African subsidiary Saab Grintek Defence, with the new deal marking the first time the system will be produced not only in India but anywhere outside of South Africa. The Indian LEDS 50 units will initially be manufactured at Tata Power SED's eleven-acre manufacturing facility in Bangalore, which employs about 600 people," according to a Saab release. says the official release of Saab.

A senior eExecutive of Saab India Technologies said, the LEDS provides solutions to combat personnel with vital situation awareness on laser threats and countermeasure availability and areas of coverage, protection offered under dynamic conditions, allowing manual or fully automatic responses against threats.
