Knight’s Armament Company dusted off and displayed a couple of rare prototypes here at SOFIC 2014, seemingly in response to recent rumblings by the government; the Knight’s SR-47 Carbine above and Stoner Light Machine Gun A1, below. The Navy’s NAVSUP put out a sources sought for a 7.62×39 rifle and there is some talk about life cycle replacement for M249 machine guns.

The SR-47 Carbine fires 7.62mm x 39mm cartridges using a Stoner action and features the ergonomics of the AR15 platform. It uses standard Kalashnikov pattern magazines, weighs 6.5 pounds and runs 29.75? with the stock retracted.

The 5.56mm Stoner Light Machine Gun A1 features a bufferless action, push button barrel swap system, a short feed cover, adjustable stock, hybrid KeyMod/1913 handguard and an underslung mount that accepts standard and improved belted ammunition containers. The compact machine gun weighs 10 pounds and uses a 1:7 inch twist, chrome lined, hammer forged 14.5 inch barrel. ■
