PARIS — The French Army Air Corps has invited some 20 foreign delegations to attend a three-day visit, with a focus on combat helicopters, at the Eurosatory trade show, an Army officer said April 17.

An opening conference is set for June 17 at Villepinte, where the exhibition will be held just outside the capital, Gen. Olivier Gourlez de la Motte, commander of the Army Air Corps, told journalists.

A guided visit of the trade show will be given on the second day on the theme of air-land combat. On the last day there is an open exchange for the commanders at the Villacoublay airbase.

The invitations have been sent to commanders of army aviation or helicopters in the services of the friendly nations.

The unit is now equipped with two new helicopters, de la Motte said.

There is a new support and attack version of the Tiger combat helicopter, armed with the laser-guided Hellfire II missile and a more powerful engine, and the NH90 Caiman transport and tactical helicopter. The Cougar transport helicopter has also been upgraded.

The Army Air Corps is celebrating its 60th anniversary since formation on Nov. 22, 1954. The Army unit flew helicopters in Vietnam and Algeria, and later worked closely with the Navy in the Harmattan campaign in Libya, and with the Air Force in the Serval and Pamir operations in Mali and Afghanistan, respectively, de la Motte said.

Eurosatory, a trade show on land weapons, opens June 16. ■
