KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA — Taiwan-based Whole Power Company has found a new market outside the Taiwan military for its armored vehicle track and suspension systems. The company is exhibiting for the first time at the Defence Services Asia exhibition in Kuala Lumpur this week.

“We are the sole source supplier to Taiwan’s military tracked vehicles,” said Oliver Wu, product manager. The company supplies the track and suspension systems for Taiwan’s M-109 self-propelled artillery, LVTP-5 armored amphibious fighting vehicle, AAV-7 assault amphibious vehicle, M-41 “Bulldog” light tank, M-113 armored personnel carrier, M-88 armored recovery vehicle, and M-48/M-60 main battle tank.

He said the company is the “sole supplier” to Taiwan’s military of the track shoe assembly, road arm assembly, wheel solid rubber tire, torsion bar, sprocket, idler, turret assembly, bridge, index internal gear, gun platform floor, and housing. Wu said the company is now looking beyond Taiwan’s shores to offer the region the same product line.

Wu said the company is in discussions with Malaysia, Pakistan, and Indonesia. There is a special interest in the region for countries, like Indonesia and Malaysia, who have FV101 Scorpion tanks and Alvis Stormer armored personnel carriers. Pakistan’s army also operates the M-113, M-88, and M-109.
