Mapping software vendor Esri will enable government users of its ArcGIS platform to make their data publicly available easily through the system.
"Everyone starting to deploy ArcGIS can now deploy an open data site," said Andrew Turner, chief technology officer of Esri's Research and Development Center. "We're in a unique position here. Users can just turn it on the day it becomes public."
The new feature will become available this month. Government agencies can use it to turn data in Esri's format into open formats, including CSVs, KML and GeoJSON.
Esri has also created an interactive map to provide information on the tension between Russia and Ukraine. Click here to take a look.
