Navy awards communications modernization contract

Data Link Solutions LLC has won a $24.9 million U.S. Navy contract to upgrade ship communications systems.

The contract, from the Navy's Space and Warfare System Command calls for Iowa-based Data Link Solutions to develop Multi-functional Information Distribution System on Ship Modernization systems. The contract "covers the development, fabrication, integration, testing and delivery of MOS MOD systems, which will be developed to support both the MIDS Joint Tactical Radio System and the MIDS low volume terminal four for shipboard applications," said the Navy announcement.

According to the original 2011 solicitation, MOS MOD will update legacy components and add enhancements such as Enhanced Throughput, Concurrent Multi-Netting, and Concurrent Contention Receive.
