Former U.S. Army CIO Lt. Gen. Susan Lawrence has joined Booz Allen Hamilton as a senior vice president.

Lawrence "will join Booz Allen’s Defense Market Group to provide leadership for business initiatives that cut across the defense and security markets," said the Booz Allen announcement. "These initiatives include Command, Control, Communications, and Computers; Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance; enterprise information technology; joint information environments; cyber; integrated mission systems; and emerging defense technologies."

During her 40-year career, Lawrence helped create U.S. Army Cyber Command. She also commanded the Army's Network Enterprise Technology Command, and held communications and intelligence posts in South Korea, Europe and Southwest Asia.

“Susan is an extraordinary leader," said Booz Allen Senior Vice President Joseph Sifer. "She led the way in bringing new communications and wireless systems, electronics platforms, and advanced technology to the warfighter, navigating budget pressures, and delivering on the Army’s C4ISR and information technology strategy. She will greatly enhance Booz Allen’s ability to bring pragmatic, operationally-oriented technology, and mission solutions to our defense and security clients.”
