The winter gathering of the Association of the United States Army will be held in Huntsville, Ala., for the first time, bringing the conference to the home of Army Materiel Command headquarters.
The Army Materiel Command is the featured command supporting the symposium, scheduled from Feb. 19-21. It will take place at the Von Braun Center, which is Huntsville’s conference and event center located a few miles from Redstone Arsenal.
The theme of the event is “America’s Army – Sustaining, Training, and Equipping for the Future,” officials said.
More than 200 exhibits will feature the latest equipment, weapons and technologies for the force, according to an AUSA release.
Registration is open online until Feb. 7. Those who want to attend may also register on site at the Von Braun Center. The event is free for military members and government employees. To register online, go to http://ausameetings.org/winter/.
The symposium’s location in Huntsville “will allow us to maximize military, civilian and industry attendance during this period of constrained budgets and limited resources,” retired Gen. Gordon Sullivan, the AUSA president, said in the release. “This is a superb opportunity for professional development, and it remains very cost effective.”
The gathering is an opportunity for professional development and a showcase for industry’s “latest and best technologies to arm, equip, sustain and protect our soldiers for the future fight,” Sullivan said.
Redstone Arsenal is home to several commands and agencies including the U.S. Missile Defense Agency, Army Space and Missile Defense Command, Army Aviation and Missile Command, Army Security Assistance Command, Army Contracting Command, and Army Aviation and Missile Research, Development and Engineering Command.
