The Army is searching for contractors who can perform data mining on a large scale.

Described as “highly specialized professional services” in the Army solicitation, contractors are expected to “resolve massive near real-time and historical (extant) data sets and to perform automated entity extraction of unstructured text for trillions of records.”

Desired capabilities include expertise in motion dynamics of moving sensor feeds to determine which sensors belong to the same physical platform, identity recognition that is able to distinguish between entities with similar names as well as determine the relationship between entities, and allowing users to identify patterns of activity and thus enable them to make sense of huge amounts of data. Contractors will also need to build three-dimensional geospatial products and multi-intelligence common operational pictures.
