General Dynamics has been awarded a U.S. Army contract worth up to $475 million for Warfighter Information Network傍actical (WIN-T) Increment 3. The first task order of the contract is a $96 million upgrade of WIN-T Increment 2.

Increment 2 will receive a feature that will also appear in Increment 3; an additional line-of-sight communications layer that will use UAVs or other airborne platforms to enable WIN-T access for troops operating in isolated areas.

展IN-T Increment 3 ensures that as communications and networking technology advance, the WIN-T systems stay current directly benefiting soldiers operating in harm痴 way while making the Army痴 investments in Increment 2 even more cost-effective, said General Dynamics C4 Systems president Chris Marzilli in a company press release. 的ncrement 3 will also deliver long-term cost savings by reducing the use of overburdened and expensive satellites, while improving the system痴 ease-of-use.
