Intevac Photonics has won a $27 million contract for night vision cameras for the Army’s Apache attack helicopter Pilot Night Vision Sensor program.

The contract, from the Apache project management office, calls for 500 M611 cameras, which are based on Intevac’s Electron Bombarded Active Pixel Sensor design.

“We have the only night vision goggles that provide operational capability at dawn and at dusk,” an Intevac news release said. “Missions can now take place at odd light times of the day, which increases operational time. Digital vision at night is a game changer for aviators, and even opens up the possibility of information sharing from one aviator to another.”
