The Air Force has added nine companies to its $6.9 billion contract for networking equipment, software and other products, the Defense Department announced Tuesday.

The winning vendors are:

■Federal Networked Systems LLC., Ashburn, Va.

■Dell Federal Systems L.P., Round Rock, Texas

■Harris IT Services Corp., Dulles, Va.

■Sterling Computers Corp., Norfolk Neb.

■Force 3 Inc., Denver, Colo.

■PCMall Inc., Chantilly, Va.

■Insight Public Sector Inc., Chantilly Va.

■Presidio Networked Solutions Inc., Greenbelt Md.

■FCN Inc., Rockville Md.

In total, the Air Force has awarded 25 vendors a spot on its Network Centric Solutions-2 (NETCENTS-2) Netcentric Products contract, following several contract delays and an onslaught of protests against earlier iterations of the contract.

The service awarded eight contracts under NETCENTS-2 Netcentric products on April 19 and another eight indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contracts on Aug. 26. Nine companies protested the August awards. On Sept. 30, the Air Force told the Government Accountability Office it would take corrective action by awarding a contract to all companies whose proposals were in the competitive range.

The latest awards complete that action, according to the announcement.

Companies will compete to offer commercially available products, such as servers, multimedia, software that isnít included on other enterprise licenses, and identity management and biometric hardware. The potential six-year award is one contract vehicle under the Air Forceís $24 billion NETCENTS-2 program, which will replace the current NETCENTS program for buying information technology and netcentric products, solutions and services.

The contract is mandatory for Air Force customers purchasing netcentric products.
