General Dynamics C4 Systems has been awarded a $475 million cost-plus contract for research and development of the Army’s Warfighter Information Network-Tactical Increment 3. General Dynamics was the sole bidder.

WIN-T Increment 3 will feature full on-the-move networking capabilities by improving the line-of-sight capabilities in Increment 2, according to the Program Executive Office for Command, Control and Communications-Tactical.

An air networking tier, which will reduce congestion on satellite bandwidth, will be added, as well as a more refined network architecture. The core of Increment 3 will be the Joint Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance radio combined with the Highband Networking Waveform.
