Rockwell Collins has delivered the Patrol Persistent Surveillance System (PPSS) to the Australian Army. The PPSS combines sound, vibration and imaging sensors for enhanced situational awareness, according to a Rockwell Collins press release.
PPSS is made up of a meshed network of unattended ground sensors and video cameras, the company said. Alarms from the system are relayed to an operator console and displayed on a digital map.
“This system has provided the eyes and ears for Australian Defence Forces operating in potentially hazardous regions where information is critical to mission success,” said Colin Mahoney, senior vice president of International & Service Solutions for Rockwell Collins.
The combined project team was recently recognized by the Australian Institute of Project Management for Excellence in Project Management.
