L-3 Linkabit has successfully completed comprehensive field trials of its next-generation PRD-13(V)3 tactical on-the-march (OTM) electronic support measures system, according to a company press release. The tests were conducted in desert and mountainous terrain in Southern California, and included exploitation and direction-finding of line-of-sight and beyond-line-of-sight electronic transmissions using single and multiple PRD-13(V)3 systems.

The PRD-13(V)3 is the third generation of L3 Linkabitís 20-year-old PRD-13 line. Improvements include software-defined processing, significant weight and power reduction, and an IP-based architecture that enables remote operations as well as networking of multiple systems.

For PRD-13(V)3 OTM operations, an additional Android-based handheld controller enables the 32-pound backpack system to be controlled through a tether to the processor or via a wireless network.
