C4ISR Journal is now C4ISR & Networks, as you can tell from the inaugural issue of our enhanced brand. It’s far more than a cosmetic change. We have substantively developed C4ISR & Networks to provide a deep, rich multimedia experience, offering unparalleled focus and coverage for the network-based defense community.

We are a digital brand with a magazine. Our website, www.C4ISRNET.com, offers original news reporting every day, along with a variety of resources such as webcasts, topical newsletters and channels, interviews with leadership and key program management, and blogs from thought leaders in the community.

We also remain committed to a rich, compelling print experience, and have re-crafted the magazine with an exciting, contemporary design.

The reasons for this are clear. This is a vibrant, resilient and fast-changing market sector. Networks, C4ISR and information technologies — and the situational awareness they provide — are the source of our modern military advantage. We are rapidly evolving from a machine-age military where platforms were the deciding advantage to an information age military — better yet, an intelligence age military — where situational awareness, information dominance and intelligence through the enterprise enable a lighter, faster, more lethal, mobile and agile force.

Sequestration, while onerous in the short term, is accelerating needed technological change — toward mobility, productivity and collaboration across the enterprise of war fighting. For that’s what this is all about, the enterprise of defense and war fighting, through the transformative technologies of C4ISR systems — and the intelligence they provide across the enterprise.

This letter also serves as an introduction to the leadership behind the new C4ISR & Networks: David Smith, vice president and general manager; and Barry Rosenberg, editor. We have worked in defense media for more than two decades, and together have led the media field in serving this defense network sector in our past projects. C4ISR & Networks continues that vision in this exceptional market of people, technologies and innovation.

We are delighted and appreciative to be with Gannett Government Media, a company that fully understands the defense community of today and tomorrow and that provides unsurpassed journalistic credibility and depth in defense markets. Gannett Government Media has shown a powerful commitment to the network-based defense community in providing the resources, investment and support to best serve you.

Welcome to C4ISR & Networks. Check out our website at www.C4ISRNET.com. We look forward to the continuing dialogue.
