PARIS — Missile systems specialist MBDA expects to sign a first order in the coming months for its combat management system for fast patrol boats, a company executive said Oct. 24.
The sale to the undisclosed client is expected to consist of “several tens” of the Compact Warfare System Package, the executive said at the Euronaval trade show.
The package is effectively a sales platform for MBDA’s Mistral and Marte Mk2N missiles, which form part of the system.
The package is a command-and-control system for boats 30-50 meters long. The system uses a Thales radar to detect surface and air threats, such as helicopters, at sea. The package is also aimed at logistic support ships as a self defense product.
MBDA displayed a simulator, designed as a training tool for crews, and a “port of entry” to sell the compact warfare system package.
The European company also expects to sign by the end of the year a first contract for its Simbad-RC, a remote control upgrade on the twin Mistral launcher used for close-in protection on ships.
