Paris — Cassidian and the U.S. Office for Defense Cooperation Sept. 20 marked 20 years of the EADS Eagle Vision commercial satellite imaging system, which has been upgraded with a new antenna, storage arrays and other equipment under a next-generation program.
The U.S. Air Force Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance Innovations office operates the Eagle Vision deployable downlink system to provide high-resolution pictures to U.S. combat commanders and disaster relief missions.
Eagle Vision is a highly successful example of French-U.S. cooperation, ISR Innovations director James “Snake” Clark said at a reception at the museum of the Legion d’Honneur award.
“Friendship, respect and delivery” underpinned the 20 years of the program, Cassidian Chief Executive Jean-Marc Nasr said.
Eagle Vision imagery was used in rescue operations after the Katrina hurricane.
