The U.K. Ministry of Defence recently extended a two-year contract with Saab for combined training services. The 11.7 million-pound ($18.2 million) contract will continue the Deployable Tactical Engagement Simulation training system (DTES) Managed Service that has been used by the British Army since August 2009.
The managed service provides technical and operational support to the battle groups training in Kenya, according to Saab’s press release. The extended contract will add to and improve the previous services, with capabilities such as medical treatment simulation, after-action review facilities, and engagement feedback devices.
“We consider this extended contract to be a symbol of the strong partnership between Saab and the British army, and a renewal of our commitment as a highly trusted overall training provider to a first-class military customer,” said Henrik Höjer, managing director of training and simulation at Saab’s security and defense solutions divisions.
Since 2009, Saab has supported more than 20 exercises and provided live simulation for U.K. Ministry of Defence training in Afghanistan, Germany, Canada, and on the mainland. Saab also received a British extension on its Collective Counter-IED Trainer in March.
